Nicaragua's Law No. 618 (General Law on Occupational Hygiene and Safety, 2007) requires employers to keep a stocked first-aid kit and a person trained in first aid, and to organize personnel into first-aid, fire and evacuation brigades, with no single fixed numeric ratio per worker. It is enforced by the Ministry of Labor (MITRAB) and the Nicaraguan Social Security Institute (INSS).

In Nicaragua health professionals are registered with the Ministry of Health (MINSA) via a registration certificate (constancia de registro), and no mandatory periodic recertification or statutory CPR/BLS requirement for nursing staff is documented. Keeping resuscitation and emergency-response skills current is a professional and employer-driven expectation, met by any recognized continuing-education activity such as CPR/AED, ACLS or PALS.

No Nicaragua-specific national rule detailing a first-aid requirement for elder-care staff was located, but the regional pattern shows a recognized caregiver certificate incorporating first aid and CPR is deemed essential and is commonly required by the facility or employer. A recognized, up-to-date certificate meets this expectation, in addition to occupational training, and must be renewed periodically.

MIFAN coordinates substitute homes in Nicaragua and applies the Manual of Procedures for Special Protection Measures, which includes training of those involved, though no explicit rule requiring first-aid and CPR was identified. Current first-aid and CPR training is a reasonable expectation of care met by a recognized, up-to-date certificate, in addition to the family assessment.

Online CPR and first aid training is recognized in Nicaragua, with no explicit ban on online first-aid training for the workplace since the law requires trained personnel without prescribing the format. Courses are built on the ILCOR 2025 Consensus on Science and lead to a 3-year certification.
